Ašot Haas

24.5. – 2.9.2018

More

The series of works named Resonance of Sound (2015-16) is a series of acrylic reliefs in which the artist visually „records“ the oscillation of sound in space. At the very beginning, there was the creation of the laser harp (A x B x C, 2013), where the spectator can freely interrupt the laser beam in space and create a sound signature at the moment of his physical contact. This creates a penetrating link between space, movement and sound. Haas subsequently scans and digitally modulates this interactive space definition by the laser harp. Thus, on the base of the scanned sound frequencies, some light images are produced, composed by the individual ribbes casted from acrylic. Ultimately, some dynamic circular-shaped compositions are formed or longitudinally mirrored according to symmetrical axes. The author thus delivers compressed resonance and high-density optical plates; visual seismographs of the sound landscape with a massive frequency curve from the epicenter. There is also a dispersion of light and sound, depending on their wavelength (similar to water levels or electromagnetic radiation). Ašot Haas, with help of these rhythmic „optical lightguides“ modeles transmission to another dimension. Not only for the projection of 3D on a two-dimensional surface but, above all, for transmission to another opto-sonic system, to the secret of the penetration of the acrylic, sound and light.

Ján Galanda

1.3. - 20.5. 2018

More info

„The history of Slovak photography is full of unspoken, half-abandoned or totally forgotten personalities. However, only few of them have been until recently as unknown as Ján Galanda. Like most modern Slovak photographers, he was a photo-amateur, working in civilian life as a bank official. Galanda began to shoot more consistently in mid 30´s. He photographed and documented his personal interests and activities, traveling, hiking and sports. Unlike most of this kind of photos, his pictures are characterized by a precisely built, demanding and sometimes tricky composition. „

Adelio SARRO / Giselle Ulisse / Norma Amaral / Yuji Arimizu / Raquel Galena / José Carlos DE LIMA / Dennis Agabiti Esteves / José Saraiva / Tomas Makiyama / Veniton Verde / Gilson Santana / Eduardo Vilela
The Colorfull exhibition “Obrazilia” at the Turiec Gallery in Martin presents a selection of paintings from Brazil.

Painter and sculptor Adelio SARRO, often referred to as the Picasso of Brazil, is the author of the paintings that are a major part of the exhibition. Its colorful, gentle and harmonic-looking scenes, highlighted by its typical manuscript, with an atmosphere of strong emotions and plasticity reminiscent of old masters, attract the attention of visitors in many places in Europe. We also exhibit structured images with legend and Braille script. For several years, Giselle Ulisse has painted her Impressionist-style paintings with a great amount of extraordinarily good observation skills, easily capturing the moments of real day-to-day life. Norma Amaral studied pedagogy and began to work as a self-taught artist. Yuji Arimizu, a Brazilian naive artist, has Japanese roots. His characters are strikingly expressive, even with his clothing, often painting men with hoes and other work tools standing in the middle of groups, along with women and children. Raquel Galena is a famous figure of naive art. Since 1979, she has been exhibiting in collective exhibitions, with the colorfulness of her paintings and the unique style of attracting visitors to her individual exhibitions in various places in Brazil. José Carlos De Lima lives and acts as a freelance artist. As a child, he was interested in art and began painting. In 1989 he exhibited his special, loving and technically outstanding figures. Dennis Agabiti Esteves, after meeting with Adeli Sarom, has fully developed his passion for colors and their shared time in the studio has fundamentally influenced his further direction. José Saraiva is one of the painters who exhibit their works in the galleries of the Sao Paulo region. Tomas Makiyama is of Japanese origin and is presented under his artistic name Tomas. Veniton Verde and Gilson Santana come from the Bahia State. Their paintings can be found mainly in the art galleries of the Pelourinho art community, in the center of the capital of Salvador da Bahia. Eduardo Vilela works with various techniques and materials, and he likes to find inspiration in the history of the Mayans and Egyptians in his works.
